The question we get most from creators is 'how many followers do I need to get signed?' The answer disappoints them: follower count is one of the last things we check. What actually decides an agency signing is a set of underlying signals — most of which have nothing to do with audience size and everything to do with whether the creator's business can be scaled by our infrastructure.
What we actually evaluate
The checklist we run on every candidate:
- Current earnings floor — not the best month, the median month. This tells us the durable revenue base we're working with.
- Rebill rate — proves the audience is real fans, not one-time buyers from a viral moment.
- DM response habit — creators who ignore DMs are usually unable to sustain agency-level revenue, regardless of follower count.
- Content production discipline — do they shoot in batches, or scramble the day of? Batches scale, scrambling doesn't.
- Existing off-platform funnel — even a small IG or Telegram we can amplify beats a huge OF with zero external channels.
- Coachability in the intake call — can they hear that something they're doing is suboptimal and adjust, or do they push back on every note?
Follower count doesn't decide, it filters
A 100k IG follower count opens the conversation. It doesn't sign the creator. We've signed creators with 5k followers who had a 90% rebill rate and shipped content daily. We've passed on creators with 200k followers whose rebill was 45% and who never responded to DMs. The former compounds, the latter doesn't.
Red flags that get a creator passed
The signals that make us pass regardless of other numbers:
- Content promised but not delivered during the intake period
- Aggressive negotiation on the split before understanding what the agency actually does
- History of switching between agencies every few months
- Refusal to sign an NDA that protects both sides
- Content-only mindset with no interest in the DM side of the business
How to actually get an agency to sign you
If you want to be signed, the fastest path is: hit $3-5k/month solo for 3 consecutive months with an 80%+ rebill rate, have some kind of external funnel running, and come to the intake call with your metrics organized. That combination gets you signed by any competent agency in the industry.
Bottom line: agencies sign for compounding potential, not audience size. Build the operating discipline first and the offers will come to you.
